Rules of the Competition
Teams. All teams will be assigned at the beginning. The goal will be to have an even number of teams with an even number of players.
As there will be head to head components, in an effort to make it fair, we will use your FTPs to normalize the expected output among teams.
All teams will have a generic name to start. Creating a new team name within the first 7 days will result in an automatic 20 bonus points for your team. Each week you delay selecting a team name, this bonus goes down 10 points. If it perpetuates this will become a 10 point penalty.
Each week, except the last week of the competition, you will be paired against another team in a round-robin format. Points will be awarded for exceeding the performance of the other team in multiple ways.
The final week of the tournament we will use the point score on the leaderboard to decide final rankings in head to head format (1st and 2nd, etc.,)
Competition format: There will be 3 required rides each week on the bike. Extra credit will be available to those who complete all 3 rides.
Freeform rides: there will be 2 rides each week that you can take at your own pace. It is encouraged to push yourself, but simply completing the ride will give you full credit. Those doing the PZP challenge can substitute PZP rides for each of these.
Head-to-Head rides: This ride cannot be substituted. At the end of the week, each player will be required to submit their output for the ride. The total outputs from each team will be totaled up, and whoever had the highest output as a team will get bonus points.
Extra credit: There will be 3 extra credit opportunities each week. 2 of them will be core/upper body strength workouts (I will take from the hardCORE on the floor calendar so people can double-dip). The last opportunity will be an active recovery in which you can take a 20 minute or longer low impact ride, or do some non-peloton exercise (running, outdoor biking, swimming, a walk with the family, etc.,) that lasts at least 20 minutes and gives you a break from the Peloton bike.
Scoring
3 points will be awarded for each of the required 30 minute rides, 4 points for the 45 minute rides*
*:the first week all rides were 3 points because this was not announced before hand1 point will be awarded for each of the extra credit opportunities, provided you've done the 3 required rides
Each week you will be directly competing with another team. 24 points will be awarded to the team that wins the heads-up ride
Each week you will be directly competing with another team. 24 points will be awarded to the team that does the most workouts. If both teams do the same number of workouts, they will split the prize and each get 12 points
